4K Microscope Inspection
Every card is examined under 4K microscope magnification to assess surface condition, edges, corners, and any pre-existing flaws before treatment begins.
Recorded Review & Documentation
We record the inspection and prep process, and provide before & after photos and video so you have full proof of what was done to your card.
Edge & Corner Correction
When possible, we perform careful edge and corner correction to improve the card's structural presentation before finishing.
Surface Prep & Heat Press
Each card receives surface preparation tailored to its year, material, and condition. Heat press treatment is applied when needed to address warping.
Microcrystalline Polish Finish
Our signature microcrystalline preservation finish — acid-neutral, highly stable, applied sparingly and buffed to a dry, crystal-clear sheen.
Humidor Stabilization
If needed, cards go into our seasoned Spanish cedar walk-in humidor for humidity stabilization — ensuring optimal card condition before return.

Before the finish is applied, every card undergoes condition-specific surface preparation based on its year, material, and current state. Heat press treatment is used when needed to correct warping or surface irregularities.
Only then do we apply our microcrystalline preservation layer — engineered for premium collector presentation. Ultra-thin, acid-neutral, highly stable, buffed to a dry crystal-clear sheen.

The Apex Signature Prep is a premium presentation and preservation service — not a grading guarantee. No grading outcome is promised or implied.
Customers planning third-party grading should be aware: PSA states that wax, cleaning spray, or other foreign substances applied to a card surface can lead to an N7 — Evidence of Cleaning designation. PSA also designates cards showing paper restoration, crease/wrinkle pressing, scratch removal, or enhanced gloss as N5 — Altered Stock. Either designation may result in the card being encapsulated as Authentic Altered at the grader's discretion.
Apex Cards is fully transparent about this process. We offer precision polishing, waxing, and collector presentation services — not a grading shortcut. Collectors should make informed decisions about whether to submit waxed cards for grading.
PSA Submission Note: For cards submitted to PSA through our grading submission service, we recommend keeping your card on file in case PSA applies an upcharge based on the final grade or declared value. This ensures your card is not held up or returned without grading.
