Apex Cards does not guarantee any grading outcome, numerical grade, subgrade, designation, encapsulation result, resale result, or increase in value. You acknowledge that any work performed on a card surface, including but not limited to cleaning, polishing, enhanced gloss, or the application of any surface-applied substance, may affect how a third-party grading company evaluates that card. You further acknowledge that a grader may, in its sole discretion, determine that an item shows evidence of cleaning, alteration, enhanced gloss, foreign substance, or similar condition and may decline to assign a numerical grade or may assign an alternate designation. You accept this risk in full and agree that the decision to submit a card for grading after Apex service is solely your responsibility. This section reflects PSA’s current published standards.
Apex Cards does not represent or warrant that any service is “grading-safe,” “submission-safe,” “PSA-safe,” or otherwise guaranteed to comply with the preferences, standards, or interpretations of any third-party grading company. Any statements by Apex regarding handling, materials, finish, care, or presentation are descriptive of our process only and are not promises of grading acceptance.
Any reference by Apex Cards to “museum-grade,” “conservation-grade,” “archival,” or similar descriptors refers only to the type, quality, or intended presentation characteristics of certain materials or methods used in our process. Such terms do not mean that Apex Cards is affiliated with, certified by, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any museum, grading company, scientific body, or governmental authority. Such terms also do not create any guarantee of archival permanence, long-term chemical stability on every item, or grading eligibility.
By submitting an item to Apex Cards, you expressly authorize Apex to handle, inspect, clean, prep, polish, crack out (if requested), recover (if requested), and apply its presentation process to the submitted item as described in your order. You represent that you are the lawful owner of the item or are authorized by the lawful owner to submit it. You authorize Apex to use commercially reasonable judgment in carrying out the requested service, including the decision to use humidor stabilization, heat press treatment, or other condition-based preparation methods when deemed appropriate.
You acknowledge that trading cards and slabbed items may have pre-existing defects, fragility, wear, paper loss, foil sensitivity, print-layer weakness, edge chipping, surface scratching, lifting, flaking, peeling, staining, residue, prior restoration, manufacturing defects, or other conditions that may not be fully visible before handling. Apex Cards is not responsible for revealing, exposing, or making more noticeable any pre-existing condition during normal service. Apex Cards does not guarantee the repair, reversal, concealment, or elimination of any existing defect.
The Slab Crack-Out Service involves the physical removal of a card from its graded encapsulation (slab). By requesting this service, you acknowledge and accept the following risks:
(a) The crack-out process carries an inherent risk of damage to the card, including but not limited to surface scratching, edge nicks, corner damage, bending, creasing, or other physical harm that may occur during removal regardless of the care taken.
(b) Once a slab is cracked, the existing grade, label, certification number, and encapsulation are permanently destroyed and cannot be restored.
(c) Apex Cards is not responsible for any decrease in value, loss of grade, loss of certification, or physical damage that results from the crack-out process.
(d) You authorize Apex Cards to proceed with the crack-out at your sole risk and release Apex from liability for any outcome of the crack-out process.
(e) Apex Cards reserves the right to decline a crack-out request if, in our professional judgment, the risk of damage to the card is unacceptably high.
When you select the Grading Submission Handling service, Apex Cards will package and ship your card(s) to the grading company of your choice (PSA, CGC, TAG, SGC, BGS, or other). The $15.00 per card handling fee covers packing, shipping, and handling to the grading company only. You acknowledge and agree to the following:
(a) All grading company service fees, turnaround tier costs, declared value charges, and any upcharges applied by the grading company are your sole responsibility and are not included in the Apex handling fee.
(b) Grading company pricing, policies, turnaround times, and acceptance criteria change frequently and are outside Apex’s control. Final grading costs will be confirmed before submission when possible.
(c) PSA Upcharge Notice: For cards submitted to PSA, we strongly recommend keeping your card on file with PSA in case PSA applies an upcharge based on the final grade or declared value. If you do not authorize keeping the card on file and PSA applies an upcharge, the card may be held or returned ungraded. Apex Cards is not responsible for PSA upcharge decisions or their consequences.
(d) Once Apex tenders your card to the grading company or its designated carrier, risk of loss or damage passes to the grading company and/or carrier. Apex is not liable for any loss, damage, delay, or grading outcome that occurs after tender.
(e) Apex Cards does not guarantee any grading outcome, turnaround time, or acceptance by the grading company. See Section 3 for full grading risk disclosure.
The Manual Card Recovery Service is designed for cards with significant damage including deep scratches, dents, creases, severe edge wear, or other structural issues that go beyond standard cleaning and polishing. By requesting this service, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
(a) Recovery work is performed on a best-effort basis. Apex Cards does not guarantee full restoration, complete removal of damage, or any specific visual or structural outcome.
(b) The recovery process may involve techniques that carry additional risk, including but not limited to heat application, pressure treatment, moisture exposure, and manual manipulation. These techniques may, in rare cases, cause additional damage or reveal pre-existing conditions not previously visible.
(c) Recovery pricing starts at $45.00 per card and may be higher depending on the severity and complexity of the damage. Apex will provide a quote before proceeding. Once work begins, fees are non-refundable.
(d) Cards that have undergone recovery work may be more likely to receive an “Authentic Altered” or similar designation from third-party grading companies. Apex Cards is not responsible for any grading outcome on recovered cards.
If a card requires humidity stabilization, it may be placed in our seasoned Spanish cedar walk-in humidor. This process helps address warping, brittleness, or moisture-related issues and may add an extra day to the standard turnaround time. Humidor stabilization is performed at Apex’s discretion when deemed beneficial to the card’s condition and is included in the base service fee at no additional charge.
Apex Cards provides a presentation-oriented service. We do not promise that a treated card will look “new,” “perfect,” “unmodified,” or “factory original.” We do not guarantee that any visual improvement will satisfy any customer, grading company, buyer, or marketplace. Results may vary from item to item based on stock, finish, age, print method, foil type, coating, and pre-existing condition.
Where applicable, Apex Cards may perform exterior holder clarity polishing or related presentation work on slabbed items at $8.00 per slab. Apex Cards does not guarantee removal of all scratches, haze, clouding, or defects from any holder. Apex Cards is not responsible for defects originating inside the holder, internal debris, encapsulation defects, label defects, or issues created by the original grading company or prior handling.
Unless otherwise stated in writing, Apex Cards returns completed raw-card orders in a penny sleeve + top loader or semi-rigid card saver, depending on your plan. Return packaging is provided as a protective handling measure only and is not a guarantee against shipping or storage damage. If you have opted for grading submission, the card will be shipped directly to the grading company and will not be returned to you first.
You are solely responsible for securely packaging and insuring items sent to Apex Cards unless Apex expressly agrees otherwise in writing. Risk of loss or damage in transit to Apex remains with you until the shipment is delivered and accepted by Apex. Risk of loss or damage in return transit passes back to you when Apex tenders the package to the selected carrier.
Standard return shipping is $20.00 per order via secure packaging and standard carrier route. Optional insurance is available at $10.00 per $1,000 of declared coverage. State-specific surcharges may apply (e.g., California, New York, Hawaii, Alaska). You are responsible for providing accurate shipping information. Apex is not liable for carrier delays, theft, weather events, misdelivery, customs issues, or other events outside Apex’s reasonable control.
You must declare the value of each submitted item before service begins. If no value is declared and confirmed in writing, Apex Cards’ maximum liability for that item shall be limited to the amount paid for service on that item. If a value is declared and accepted by Apex, Apex’s total liability for that item shall not exceed the lesser of:
(a) the declared value accepted by Apex in writing, or
(b) the item’s documented fair market value based on recent comparable sales at the time the claim arises.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Apex Cards shall not be liable for speculative value, future value, expected grading premium, lost profits, loss of market opportunity, sentimental value, indirect damages, consequential damages, incidental damages, or punitive damages.
Any turnaround time quoted by Apex Cards is an estimate only. Apex does not guarantee completion or return by a specific date. Standard turnaround is estimated at 5–7 business days from receipt. Humidor stabilization may add an extra day. Manual Card Recovery may require additional time depending on complexity. Delays may occur due to order volume, material availability, staffing, holidays, shipping interruptions, quality-control review, or other circumstances.
Any comment by Apex Cards regarding condition, surface appearance, marketability, presentation, or collector appeal is opinion only and is not an appraisal, valuation certificate, authentication, investment recommendation, or legal representation. The Tec Spec Card Report is an observational evaluation only and does not constitute a grade, appraisal, or guarantee of condition. You remain solely responsible for all buying, selling, grading, and holding decisions.
Service fees are due as stated in your order and on our current Services page. Once work has begun on an item, fees are non-refundable except where required by law. If you cancel before work begins, Apex may, at its discretion, issue a partial or full refund less any intake, payment-processing, shipping, or administrative costs already incurred. Shipping charges are non-refundable once labels or shipments are created. Grading submission handling fees are non-refundable once the card has been tendered to the grading company or its carrier.
Apex Cards accepts payment via Zelle, Venmo, CashApp, PayPal, Apple Pay, and other methods as listed on our Services page. Payment is due before work begins unless otherwise agreed in writing. Invoices are sent upon intake confirmation. Apex reserves the right to hold completed items until payment is received in full.
You must inspect returned items promptly upon delivery. Any claim for alleged loss, misdelivery, service error, or physical damage must be made in writing to Apex Cards within 14 days of delivery and must include photographs, packaging images, and supporting documentation. Failure to timely notify Apex waives the claim to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Apex Cards may photograph or video submitted items for intake, workflow documentation, quality control, insurance documentation, internal training, or dispute resolution. Before & after photos and video are provided as part of the standard Cleaning + Inspection service. Apex may also use anonymized item images for marketing, educational, or portfolio purposes unless you opt out in writing before service begins.
You represent that the submitted items are lawfully owned or lawfully entrusted to you, are not stolen, and do not infringe the rights of any third party. You agree not to submit hazardous materials, counterfeit items while claiming they are genuine, or items whose possession or shipment violates applicable law.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Apex Cards and its owners, employees, contractors, and agents from and against claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising out of your breach of this agreement, your lack of ownership or authority to submit items, your misuse of Apex’s services, or your resale, marketing, or submission of treated items without proper disclosure where disclosure is required.
This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under or relating to this agreement shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois, and you consent to that venue and jurisdiction.
If any provision of this disclaimer is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. This disclaimer, together with any written order form, invoice, or intake sheet issued by Apex Cards, constitutes the entire agreement between you and Apex Cards regarding the submitted items unless Apex agrees otherwise in writing.
